My SF Giants Top 10 Prospects for 2014

Before we begin, I like to saw that these rankings are based on my opinions. Feel free to comment if you disagree with the rankings.

1. RHP Kyle Crick-Crick is the top prospect of the Giants. I’ve seen him pitch a couple of times in San Jose and he seems really good. I think his control can get better to the point where he becomes an number 2 or ace.

2.LHP Edwin Escobar – Escobar really established himself last year by the way he pitched in San Jose and Richmond. I would say that his ceiling would be a number 3 pitcher  and probably be a loogy at worst.

3. OF Mac Williamson- Had a decent season in San Jose but needs to cut down on some strikeouts and increase contact. I believe that he can be a regular starter at best and a bench player at worst

4. RHP Alberto Mejia- Had a good season at San Jose. I think will become better and bigger has he is still very young. He has potential to be a number 3 or 4 starter in the Giants rotation by 2015

5. SS Christian Arroyo- Arroyo has been better that what I had first thought of him. I like his bat a lot and think he might have a chance to stick at short. He is still very raw though and we have to wait a bit longer to find out if he is the real deal or not.

6. C Andrew Susac- very underrated catcher in my opinion. Has decent bat but needs to stop bringing injured. If Susac can improve defensively, he could move Posey to 1st in the future

7.  LHP Ty Blach – Big fan of Blach. He has very good control and is a prospect that is going to break out in AA. He could be an effective bullpen guy in the future or an number 4 or 5 starter.

8. RHP Clayton Blackburn- had a bit of an disappointing season in San Jose but he is still very young. Hope to see him progress in AA next year. If he can make improvements, I would slot him as a number 4 starter in the Giants rotation by 2015.

9. RHP Chris Stratton – A bit worried about his performance in Augusta last season as he was an advanced pitcher in the draft.  He still has potential to be moved to the bullpen if he continues to struggle.

10. RHP Derek Law – One of my favorite prospects on the Giants. Law had a breakout year last year in San Jose. He has a nice slider and could be a replacement for Sergio Romo by 2015 or 2016

8/12/13 @ Municipal Stadium

Minor league baseball games are so much better major league ones. Yesterday, I went to the San Jose Giants game with my parents. The game started at 5:00 P.M so we left at 3:30.

We got to Municipal Stadium exactly when the game opened. There were crowds of people already there so I was pretty much baffled on what was going on because normally, there would be only a few people in the stadium. When I walked to the 1st base side bleachers, I was surprised by the crowds of people. I then learned that there was an event for the Junior Giants on the field which would make autographing harder.

I got my first autograph when I spotted San Jose Giants player Myles Schroder walking out of the batting cages. After giving up competing for a spot at the 1st base side, I walked on over to the Empires side of the field and got Angels top prospects Alex Yarbrough and Zach Borenstien’s autographs. Score!!!

After the Angels players left because the Junior Giants parade blocked them, I proceeded to the Giants dugout side and got closer Derek Law’s autograph.

After that, the game was about to begin so I went over to Turkey Mike’s BBQ which is always delicious. If you never been to Turkey Mike’s, you need to go ASAP. I got a mouth-watering portion of a Philly Cheesesteak which is my favorite item for its menu. I then proceeded back to my seat which was in Section A.

The game proceeded rather quickly which both teams not scoring many runs. The only exciting part of the game was when Giants center-fielder almost got tagged out at 3rd with the hidden-ball trick. During the game, the Giants hold many fun activities in between games. During those activities, they started throwing sunflower seeds which my mom caught. I ate them the next day and they were really tasty.Image

Also, they had a nice event which you could buy 6 tennis balls for the tennis ball toss after the game for 5 dollars. If you got your ball into the hula hoops on the 1st base, 3rd base, home plate, or on the mound, you got a nice prize. In the ninth inning, Giants closer Derek Law came in and saved the game. Since the Giants won, players threw plush “Victory Balls” into the stands and my mom caught one. I walked over to the dugout and Giants catcher Eric Sim threw me a game used ball. NICEEE!

I then rushed down the stairs to begin the tennis ball toss. After observing others try to get there balls into the hula hoops, I began to throw. My last one went into the hoop and out. GAHHHH. Thankfully, I convinced my mom to let me buy 6 more balls and on the 4th ball, I got the tennis ball in. SCORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I proceeded to pick my prize on what I thought to be a Buster Posey bobblehead. However, apparently, you had to reach in a grab bag and hope you got a slip of paper saying that you won the bobblehead. I reached in and grabbed a thing for skis. REALLY???? Luckily, they ran out of ski prizes. lol. AND THEY GAVE ME A BUSTER POSEY BOBBLEHEAD!!! WOOT WOOT!ImageImage

Nice right. This was probably the best game I have ever been to. AND THAT’S WHY MINOR LEAGUE GAMES ARE BETTER THE MAJOR LEAGUE ONES.
